Tesla launched the first fully autonomous charger Oasis SuperCharger in Kaliforni, which does not require connection to the mains. According to Electrek, thanks to the solar panels and the MEGAPACK energy accumulation system, the station provides electric vehicles charging, regardless of external power sources.

The construction of the station began last year, and now half of the 168 charges have been commissioned. The rest should earn before the end of the year. All energy comes from a solar power plant with a capacity of 11 MW, and the supply in batteries is 39 MW · h, which allows drivers to serve even at night or in cloudy weather.

With such volumes, the station is one of the largest not only in the Supercharger network, but also among autonomous charging hubs in the world.

Despite the ambitiousness, the economic expediency of the project has not yet been evaluated. However, it is California that is an ideal place for such an experiment: a large number of sunny days, a high density of electric vehicles and developed infrastructure create conditions for successful operation.

Tesla is currently planning to make such “oases” part of its global strategy, turning charger into independent, environmentally friendly and stable energy objects of the future.

We will remind, earlier it was reported that Tesla said that it affects the degradation of batteries in electric vehicles.
