Motorsport is not only a driving technique, it is a real art that requires the ability to combine skills, psychology and a creative approach. The first steps in this direction can be taken from 5 years, starting with disciplines such as car cross on mini-Baggi.
According to him, motorsport is not just speed and maneuvers, it is also a deep understanding of the car and interaction with it, as well as the work of a team that creates ideal conditions for the athlete. Kobenko explained that driving a car can be both conscious and unconscious, but real successes come exactly when the athlete is 100% understanding what he does behind the wheel.
The coach noted that motorsport is a difficult path on which there are no universal recipes for success. However, it is important to remember that this sport requires constant development, creativity and attentiveness to details. Kobenko emphasized the importance of understanding the technique and psychology of driving. However, he also noted that the ability to understand his body and his reaction behind the wheel is no less important.
When it came to the age from which you can deal with motorsport, Kobenko is sure that it could be even five years. He noted that children from this age can start a picture of a picture or automobile cross on special machines like a minibaga. At the same time, the coach drew attention to the importance of the child himself showing interest in motorsport, and not just fulfilling his parental dreams.
According to Vasily Kobenko, to impose sports for children is not the best approach. If the child does not want to engage in motorsport, it is impossible to force him to do this. Sometimes parents can try to impose their desires, and then the result will be exactly the opposite of what is expected. The coach believes that it is important to maintain the support and understanding of the interests of the child, since this directly affects his development and achievements in sports.
" Sometimes we parents try to impose what we want ourselves. Like, here I dreamed of cars in childhood - and you, a child, must dream of them. But pulling a child who does not want to be in a motorsport, is not worth it. The task of the coach is to abstract from the opinions of parents and understand whether the child likes to do this or not. Because to impose knowledge to a child who does not want them now is impossible. But breaking the psyche is easily. I worked with a children's team for a long time and saw such cases. I know for sure that when parents hear their child and support his interests - this is a completely different quality of development and a completely different result, ”the coach noted.
Vasily Kobenko also spoke about his experience with adult athletes. He noted that you can engage in motorsport at any age, the main thing is health and desire. For example, one of his students, Igor Belousov, became a five -time champion of Ukraine, starting his classes at 45 years old. His other student, Alexander Kuznetsov, came to the motorsport at 38 and became the champion of Ukraine in 2019.
Kobenko added that each athlete has his own way to success, and it is important to approach everyone individually. For some, you need to adjust the habits that interfere with development, and for others to find the most effective teaching methods.
In his coaching experience, Kobenko notes that the key is not only technical training, but also the education of the power of the spirit, the ability to self -development and constructive approach.
In the final part of the interview, Vasily Kobenko shared the experience of the first coach Valery Grubalsky, who taught him not to stop and not look for the guilty, but to be responsible for his result. He now conveys these lessons to his students, noting the importance of internal power and the ability to constant improvement.
