European car market shows slight growth in 2024. A total of 12,963,614 new passenger cars were sold, which is 0.9% more than a year earlier. These statistics were published by the Association of European Automobile Manufacturers (ACEA).

Poland showed the greatest growth - 16.1%. At the same time, there was a decline in key markets - in France (-3.2%), Germany (-1%) and Italy (-0.5%).

Sales of electric vehicles in Europe also fell. They were purchased by 1,447,934, which is 6% less than in 2023. At the same time, there is an increase in demand for hybrids: they were purchased by 14% more - 4,047,806 units.

Market leaders remained unchanged. The top three are the Volkswagen Group, Stellantis and Renault Group..

Leading models have also changed.

The budget Dacia Sandero regained first place, while last year's leader Tesla Model Y dropped straight to fourth place. Moreover, for the first time in a long time there is not a single crossover in the top three, but the VW Golf has returned there. Europeans prefer compact hatchbacks.
